Ischèliu / the call

May 28, 2022 Valeria orani

Nuraghe Santu Antine - Torralba - MusaMadre 2021 (ph. by Sabrina Fasanella)

a wonderful opportunity dedicated to Sardinian descendants

The relationship between Sardinia and Emigration is an ancestral infinity that is part of the very nature of the island and its inhabitants. The island is docking or departure, where the gaze is always turned towards a horizon open to the imagination of the unknown, to life beyond the sea. The island is the profile imagined on the horizon when you are far away. This double image guides my artistic vision of the second edition of MusaMadre. The desire to go or come back.

Ischèliu is, in Sardinian, the bird-call, which is the object used to call birds by recreating their own language. This meaningful image refers to our nature as animal humans through senses and feelings.
Ischèliu is also the opportunity to create this year inside MusaMadre a residency project that accompanies those who want to reconnect with their roots and helps them to recreate their points of belonging through direct experience with land, communities, old and new rituals, tradition, and contemporary art expressions.
Ischèliu is the reference to the construction of the memory of one's personal ancestral journey which becomes an element of collective story, travel diary, artistic expression, thoughts to share, to keep, feelings, experience, and nostalgia.

  • Are you of Sardinian origins but have you never lived in Sardinia?

  • Would you like to spend a week of an artistic residency in the heart of Sardinia and learn how to document your journey with diaries, videos, or other forms of artistic writing?

  • Place and dates of the event: Medieval village of Rebeccu - Bonorva (SS) from 1-6 August 2022.

  • are borne by the project organization:

    • The cost of accommodation and meals (Hospitality is provided at the facilities of the ancient village of Rebeccu)

    • Air tickets from Europe to Sardinia and vice versa

Apply now - Deadline for submission is Thursday 16 June 2022.
